CAIRO, March 29. /TASS/. Talks underway with hijacker of EgyptAir plane on release of women and children, Russia's embassy in Cyprus has reported.

"Negotiations are held with individuals in the airliner that was taken to a special place at Larnaca’s airport," the Protothema newspaper confirmed.

Cypriot police has been alerted, and the Ministry of Justice is holding an emergency session over the situation with the hijacked plane. Ambulances have arrived at the airport. No one has left the plane yet. According to several reports, hijackers will allow women and children to leave the plane.

Egypt’s flag carrier airline, EgyptAir, confirmed on Tuesday that its A320 passenger plane en route from Alexandria to Cairo has been hijacked.

According to Reuters, there are 80-81 people on board, one of them armed. AFP reported 55 passengers and seven crew members on board, while Cyprus Mail said there are 55 people on board including the crew.

 

Associated Press reported that there might be a bomb on board the plane.
