Kiev forces shell LPR territory twice over last 24 hours - LPR people’s militia

No injuries in the shelling were reported

MOSCOW, March 26. /TASS/. Ukrainian forces have shelled the territory of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) twice over the last 24 hours, LPR people’s militia said Saturday.

"Fire was opened from mortars of 82 mm caliber from the settlement of Luganskoye at the villages of Lozovoye and Kalinovka," Lugansk Inform Center quoted LPR people’s militia as saying. No injuries in the shelling were reported.

On January 13, at the meeting of the Contact Group aimed at settling the situation in eastern Ukraine, the sides supported Russia's initiative on ensuring a complete ceasefire on the territory of Donbass. However, both local militia and Ukrainian forces continue playing the blame game over ceasefire violations.

Ceasefire is envisaged by the Minsk accords signed on 12 February 2015, after negotiations in the so-called "Normandy format" in the Belarusian capital Minsk, bringing together Russian President Vladimir Putin, French President Francois Hollande, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko. The package of measures also envisages weaponry withdrawal, prisoner exchange, local election in Donbass, constitutional reform in Ukraine and establishing working sub-groups on security, political, economy and humanitarian components of the Minsk accords.
