BERLIN, March 4. /TASS/. The police in western Germany have detained on Friday in the city of Kirchlengern (North Rhine-Westphalia) an alleged terrorist who had sworn an oath to the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group. Spokesman for the prosecutor’s office of Hamm Martin Botzenhart told TASS earlier on Friday that that was a Russian citizen.

"A Russian citizen was detained on request from Poland. It is suspected that, while living in a neighboring country, he raised funds for IS, made money transfers, recruited new members and bought gear for them that could be used for military purposes," he said.

According to Botzenhart, "the possible extradition of the suspect to the country that sent a request for his arrest," that is to Poland, is considered. He declined to specify whether the German side was in touch with the Russian diplomatic missions in Germany. Nor did he provide any additional information on the issue.
