MADRID, March 2. /TASS/. Ceasefire in Syria is largely holding despite some incidents, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon told a press conference on Wednesday.

"By and large the cessation of hostilities is holding, even though we have experienced some incidents. But the task force and all other members of this ISSG (International Syria Support Group) are now trying to make sure that this does not spread any further and this cessation of hostilities can continue," Ban said adding that almost 500,000 people remain blocked in 15 Syrian regions.

The ceasefire between government forces and armed opposition took effect in Syria at 00:00 Damascus Time on February 27. An hour before the agreement entered into force, UN Security Council adopted a resolution in support of cessation of hostilities in Syria. It is expected that inter-Syrian talks will resume in Geneva on March 9.
