TEHRAN, February 22. /TASS/. Russia and Iran agreed to continue a series of mutual visits for a close dialogue, an Iranian diplomatic source said on Monday after a telephone conversation between representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Russia's presidential envoy on the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.
"The parties continued discussing the Syrian problem," the source said. "They have agreed to continue close contacts. Bogdanov quite soon will visit Tehran to continue the dialogue."
On Sunday, an Iranian diplomatic source said the situation in Syria was in focus of talks between Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and visiting Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. "The sides discussed in detail the situation in Syria in the light of recent development," the source said.
The Iranian mass media said the Russian minister handed over to the Iranian leader a message from Russian President Vladimir Putin concerning the negotiations on the Syrian settlement. The sides also discussed bilateral cooperation and development of contacts.
