BERLIN, February 19. /TASS/. The German Foreign Ministry expects that Russian and US experts will meet on Friday evening in Geneva to discuss the ceasefire in Syria, the German Foreign Ministry spokesman Martin Schaefer has said.
"We know that the United States and Russia have conducted intensive talks in Geneva and other places over the past few days. We proceed from the assumption that the first meeting of the working group on cessation of hostilities led by the U.S. and Russia will be held in Geneva as early as this evening," he said.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov earlier told TASS that the group on cessation of hostilities "would hold its first meeting on February 19." According to him, "the group will include co-sponsors of the process, the United States and Russia, as well as some members of the International Syria Support Group (ISSG). Its meeting will be held at the expert level involving both diplomats and the military," the diplomat said.
