School building in Donetsk reportedly damaged in night shelling

OSCE observers plan to come to the site today to verify ceasefire violations

MOSCOW, February 18. /TASS/. The school in Staromikhaylovka settlement on Donetsk’s western outskirts was damaged in a night shelling by Ukrainian forces, the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) defense ministry said on Thursday.

"The building of a local school was damaged at night in the shelling by Ukrainian forces," Donetsk News Agency quoted a defense ministry spokesperson as saying.

The defense ministry handed information about shellings to observers from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), and they plan to come to the site today to verify ceasefire violations, the spokesperson added.

At the meeting of the Contact Group on January 13 the sides supported the initiative of Russia’s envoy Boris Gryzlov on ensuring complete ceasefire on the territory of Donbass. This is the seventh attempt to fully observe the ceasefire regime in Ukraine’s south-east. At the recent meeting of the Contact Group in Minsk the participants expressed regret over continuing violations of ceasefire regime in Donbass.
