EU eases sanctions on Belarus — Council of the European Union

BRUSSELS, February 15./TASS/. The European Union has partially lifted sanctions from Belarus, which remained in place for more than 13 years. The decision was made on Monday by the foreign ministers of 28 countries of the European Union at a regular session of the Council of the European Union.

The European Council has left in effect the embargo on the supplies of weapons and special vehicles to Belarus. The decision to partially lift sanctions will come into effect after it is published in the Official Journal of the European Union on February 16, a statement of the Council said.

According to preliminary reports, the European Union will not extend visa bans and freeze on assets of President Alexander Lukashenko and 170 officials, as well as will remove three companies from the black list.
