MOSCOW, February 9. /TASS/. Director General for Foreign Affairs at the Spanish Foreign Ministry Ignacio Ibanez has said that Russia is taking part in the fight against the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group (outlawed in Russia) honoring UN Security Council resolutions.

"We are also aware of the fact that Russia is too involved in the fight against Daesh, ISIS (the names of IS) complying with the UN Security Council’s resolutions in this regard," he said at a meeting with Chairman of Russia’s Federation Council upper house International Affairs Committee Konstantin Kosachev.

Ibanez noted that both Russia and Spain were jointly fighting against international terrorism, in particular, IS. "We never joined the anti-Assad coalition, but we are part of the coalition against Daesh, against ISIS," he said.
