DPR sappers stop demining territories near Gorlovka - defense ministry

A list of facilities and territories, which have to be cleared from mines in Donbas, was adopted in Minsk in mid-December 2015

MOSCOW, February 2 /TASS/. Sappers from the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) have cleared territories near the mining town of Gorlovka, eastern Ukraine, from mines, the DPR Defense Ministry said.

"Our mine clearing units finished the demining of a pipeline and electricity transmission lines near the populated localities of Shumy and Zaitsevo," the Donetsk news agency quoted the defense ministry’s spokesperson as saying.

A list of facilities and territories, which have to be cleared from mines in Donbas, was adopted in Minsk in mid-December 2015. It comprises 12 facilities, predominantly electric power installations. The works near Gorlovka started on January 18. However, they had to be stopped almost the same day after the Ukrainian army had started shelling the nearby village of Zaitsevo.
