Militia say Ukrainian military shell Luhansk republic from grenade launcher, IFV

No damages or victims have been reported

MOSCOW, January 29. /TASS/. The Ukrainian military again shelled territory of the Kalinovka settlement in the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR), the republic’s militia told the LuganskInformCenter on Friday.

"On January 28, at 7:28p.m., the Ukrainian military opened fire eight times from IFV-2 [infantry fighting vehicle] and from an AGS-17 [automatic grenade launcher] from positions near the Luganskoye settlement aiming at the Kalinovka settlement," the militia said in a statement.

"No damages or victims have been reported," the statement reads.

On Thursday, the republic’s defense authority reported shelling of the Kalinovka settlement from IFV and AGS.

Ukrainian troops have been engaged in fighting with local militias during Kiev’s punitive operation, underway since mid-April 2014, against the breakaway territories — the Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics constituting parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine. Massive shelling of residential neighborhoods, including with the use of aviation, has killed thousands and led to a humanitarian disaster in the area.

At talks in Minsk on December 22, the Contact Group on settlement in Donbass reached a joint decision to establish from 00:00 December 23, 2015 a complete and unconditional ceasefire — the sixth since the conflict started.
