Middle East problems should be settled diplomatically - Iranian president

Saudi Arabia must finally see what is really beneficial for the region, Rouhani stressed

TEHERAN, January 17. /TASS/. Problems in the Middle East should be settled by diplomatic means, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Sunday at a briefing dedicated to the beginning of the implementation of the nuclear deal reached by Teheran and the six world powers in Vienna in July 2015.

The lifting of the anti-Iranian sanctions is an example of how problems in the Middle East could be settled, Rouhani said. Talks, meetings, diplomatic efforts can lead to desired solutions. Countries of the region, in his words, do have contradictions and efforts are needed to bridge them. He said the region’s countries are able to solve their problems by diplomatic means.

The Iranian president voiced criticism of Saudi Arabia’s policy. We cannot agree when one country kills people in another Arab country only because these people have another faith, he said referring to Saudi Arabia. In his words, Riyadh reacted negatively to Iran’s success with the beginning of the nuclear deal implementation. He said it is not right when a Moslem is negative about achievements of another Moslem.

Saudi Arabia must finally see what is really beneficial for the region, Rouhani stressed.
