Islamic State’s pilots are trained in Libya — media

There has been no evidence yet the terrorists have any aircraft at their disposal

CAIRO, December 2. /TASS/. The terrorist organization calling itself the Islamic State has its pilots trained in Libya’s city of Sirte, the Asharq al-Awsat newspaper said on Wednesday, adding that high-tech simulators were being used in the process.

"The simulator allows for practicing take-offs and landings and the technique of determining the plane’s coordinates and communicating with the ground control centre," the paper says. "The first simulators for practicing the skills of running passenger planes were delivered to Libya in October. Two weeks ago two combat simulators were brought there."

There has been no evidence yet the terrorists have any aircraft at their disposal.

Sirte, on Libya’s Mediterranean Coast, has been in the hands of the Islamic State since August. The extremists said they were determined to make it the first major Islamic State base outside Iraq and Syria. The whole of Libya is in utter security chaos.
