ANKARA, December 1. /TASS/. A powerful explosion went off in Istanbul's suburban district of Bayrampasa on Tuesday, killing one person and wounding another, Haberturk TV channel said.
Preliminary data indicates, the source of the explosion was located inside an electricity transformer plant. At the time of reporting, it was unclear whether or not the accident had been caused by an equipment failure or a bomb.
Bayrampasa and the adjoining city districts were blacked out and Haberturk reported an amassing of ambulances and firefighting engines.
