MOSCOW, November 30 /TASS/. RT TV channel reporter William Whiteman has been caught in a tear gas attack by Turkish police as he and the news crew were filming a Kurdish protest in the city of Diyarbakir against the killing of a prominent Kurdish opposition figure. Police used tear gas to disperse the demonstrators, the RT press service reported on Monday.
"The police fired tear gas down this area. The tear gas was fired down underneath the little walkways which went underneath the street where people were eating food. Everyone was choking on the tear gas. It was very hard to breathe," William Whiteman reported live from Diyarbakir.
Kurdish lawyer Tahir Elci famous for his criticism of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Diyarbakir.
