Vladimir Putin informed Abdel Fattah al-Sisi about the stepping up of Russia's combat operation against extremist groups in Syria

MOSCOW, November 18./TASS/. In a telephone conversation on Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin informed his Egyptian counterpart Abdul Fattah al-Sisi about the stepping up of a combat operation against extremists in Syria, the Kremlin press service said.

"Putin informed the interlocutor about the stepping up of a combat operation against extremist groups in Syria, where long-range aviation and naval task force have joined. The Egyptian president spoke in support of Russian action aimed at the settlement of the Syrian crisis," the press service said.

Russia and Egypt agree special services to coordinate search for A321 blast perpetrators

Vladimir Putin and Abdel Fattah al-Sisi have agreed that the two countries’ special services will cooperate in the search for the perpetrators of the terrorist attack on board the A321 liner of Russia’s Kogalymavia airlines over the Sinai Peninsula. 

"In the context of efforts to search for the criminals responsible for the terrorist attack against the Russian airliner it was agreed that Russian and Egyptian special services will maintain tight interaction," the press service said.

"Extra measures will be taken to ensure the maximum safety of air links between the two countries for sake of their prompt resumption," said the Kremlin.

Besides, the two leaders discussed topical issues of Russian-Egyptian strategic relations, putting an accent on two countries’ bid to boost cooperation in the sphere of nuclear power engineering, it reported.
