Mayor in western Ukraine sacks official for using Russian mail server

A person not understanding the importance of maintaining country’s informational security cannot be a state official, the mayor says

KIEV, October 26. /TASS/. The mayor of the western Ukrainian city of Lviv has fired an employee of the international cooperation and tourism department who used Russian mail system mail.ru in business correspondence, the city’s administration press service said on Monday.

"A person not understanding the importance of maintaining country’s informational security cannot be a state official," the press service quoted mayor Oleg Sinyutka as saying. "Let him look for a job in Russia."

In early 2015, head of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council Oleksandr Turchinov urged Ukrainians not to use Russian Internet domains. A number of Ukrainian ministry later banned the use of Russian mail servers.
