LUXEMBURG, October 12. /TASS/. The European Union needs a dialogue with Russia for settlement of the crisis in Syria, Slovakia’s Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak said on Monday upon arrival to the meeting of EU countries’ foreign ministers.

"It is necessary first of all to have a dialogue, which we do not have now," he said. "Russia’s participation in the crisis is a reality not to be ignored. We should be reacting if we want to be serious players. And it is only logical to have a dialogue with Russia on Syria."

The minister said the EU should offer a "realistic strategy" for settlement of the Syrian crisis.
