Poroshenko says elections in self-proclaimed Donbass republics are necessary

He said "blocking and isolating" these territories "is a simple, primitive solution which requires neither intellect, nor political will to restore the country’s integrity, nor diplomatic talent."

KIEV, October 11. /TASS/. Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko said on Sunday it is necessary to hold elections in Donbass territories that are not controlled by official Kiev and asked Verkhovna Rada (parliament) to help.

"There will be no elections without the Verkhovna Rada. And political settlement will get to a dead end without elections in occupied territories," Poroshenko said in a televised address speaking about the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR) official Kiev calls ‘occupied territories.’

He said "blocking and isolating" these territories "is a simple, primitive solution which requires neither intellect, nor political will to restore the country’s integrity, nor diplomatic talent." "That is why it is not my scenario," he underscored.
