TEHRAN, October 9. /TASS/. Iran's deputy foreign minister said Russia’s anti-terrorist operation in Syria was playing a key role in countering Islamic State militants in the region, Tasnim news agency reported on Friday.
"We believe that Russia’s actions against terrorists in Syria will be of key importance in the fight against terrorism in the region at this stage," Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said, quoted by Iran's Tasnim.
The diplomat was said to have noted that Tehran and Moscow were holding constant consultations on Islamic State activity in Syria and possible consequences of the terrorist group’s actions for states of the region.
