Putin’s talks with Obama, Normandy Four leaders to help restore trust — Italian leader

It is important to restore a climate of partnership and full trust, which envisages readiness to maintain a dialogue, Italian President Sergio Mattarella says

ROME, October 6./TASS/. Meetings of Russian President Vladimir Putin with US President Barack Obama, as well as with leaders of the Normandy Four are moves towards restoration of mutual trust, Italian President Sergio Mattarella said in an interview with TASS First Deputy Director General Mikhail Gusman.

"Internationally, Russia is a key partner for us," he said. "That is why it is important to restore a climate of partnership and full trust, which envisages readiness to maintain a dialogue," the president said.

"In this respect, Vladimir Putin’s meetings with Barack Obama (in New York) and with Normandy Four (leaders) are major moves in that direction," Mattarella said, noting that he hoped contacts would continue.
