US and S Korea discuss strategy of responding to N Korea’s missile launches, nuclear tests

North Korea said earlier it is ready to use its nuclear arsenal against the United States at any time

SEOUL, September 23. /TASS/. The two-day security talks between South Korea and United States have kicked off in Seoul, South Korea’s Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.

"The main topic on agenda will be the development of reaction strategy to possible new launches of missiles by North Korea or any nuclear tests," the defense ministry said. The sides plan to focus on response they will provide to such actions of Pyongyang.

North Korea said earlier it is ready to use its nuclear arsenal against the United States at any time. Pyongyang also reported that its main nuclear plant in Yongbyon has resumed operating in the routine mode. North Korea announced it plans to launch several satellites into space.

Over the last years, North Korea held three nuclear tests — in 2006, 2009 and 2013. In response, UN Security Council imposed sanctions against Pyongyang.
