MOSCOW, September 11. /TASS/. Chief negotiator of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) in the Contact Group on Ukraine’s crisis settlement, Denis Pushilin, has been elected chairman of the DPR People’s Council, the Donetsk news agency reported on Friday.
"A total of 76 deputies voted in support of Denis Pushilin’s election as chairman of the DPR People’s Council," the agency said.
The former chairman of the People’s Council, Andrey Purgin, was dismissed on September 4 by the decision of the majority of DPR lawmakers. Denis Pushilin became acting speaker, in accordance with the rules of procedure.
Purgin was dismissed for appointing Alexey Alexandrov as chief of the DPR parliament’s administrative office. The Council deputies regarded this as violation of the parliamentary procedure rules.
Deputy commander of self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) defense ministry Eduard Basurin has been appointed as DPR head Alexander Zakharchenko’s envoy for issues of social protection of militiamen and their families at the People’s Council (the parliament of the unrecognized republic). The document on appointing Basurin to this post was published on Friday on the official website of the parliament.
The decree orders to "appoint Colonel Eduard Alexandrovich Basurin as DPR head’s representative on issues of social protection of militiamen and their families at DPR People’s Council."
Basurin said he will continue to serve as deputy commander of DPR defense ministry and combine this with his new post. "I will continue working at my current position and learn new responsibilities assigned to me by the head of the republic," Donetsk News Agency quoted Basurin as saying.
