Contact Group on Ukraine ends its regular meeting in Minsk

The key issue under discussion was the possible deal to pull back weapons under 100mm calibre from the line of engagement in east Ukraine’s Donbas region

MINSK, September 8. /TASS/. The Contact Group on the settlement in eastern Ukraine have ended another round of talks in the Belarusian capital city of Minsk, the Belarusian foreign minister said on its Twitter account on Tuesday.

"Consultations of the Trilateral Contact Group with representatives of certain districts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions are over," the ministry said.

The meeting was closed to the press. It was preceded by talks of working subgroups.

The key issue under discussion was the possible deal to pull back weapons under 100mm calibre from the line of engagement in east Ukraine’s Donbas region. The sides have been agreeing this document for several months. Other unsettled problems include local elections in Donbas and amendments to the Ukrainian constitution that were not agreed with representatives of the self-proclaimed republics. The process of prisoner exchange has not been finished either.
