RIGA, September 6. /TASS/. Latvia’s army command said on Sunday a Russian warship was seen earlier in the day near the country’s sea border.
"Latvia’s National Armed Forces identified the Russian Navy Admiral Gorshkov frigate in the Latvian exclusive economic zone some ten nautical miles off the territorial waters," the army command said.
According to the Latvian military, Russian military hardware were seen more than 80 times near Latvia’s borders. In 2014, there were 250 episodes when Russian warplanes and warships approached the Latvian borders.
In June 2015, Russian Ambassador to Latvia Alexander Veshnyakov said that "all flights of Russian warplanes and movements of warships are made in strict compliance with international law and Russian military drills are conducted transparently under international agreements.".
