MOSCOW, September 4. /TASS/. Russia and Egypt have common approaches to the development of the situation in the Middle East, the Russian foreign ministry said on Friday after a meeting between Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and presidential envoy for the Middle East and North Africa Mikhail Bogdanov and Egyptian foreign ministry envoy Nazih el-Nagari.

"The sides exchanged view on the situation in the Middle East and noted similarity or convergence of Russia’s and Egypt’s approaches to the developments in the Middle East," the ministry said. "Focus was made on the settlement of the Syrian crisis, the situation in the Palestinian-Israeli relations, the situation in Libya and on problems of counteracting the terrorist threats, especially those coming from Islamic State."

"The two diplomats reiterated their countries’ determination to further build up trust-based Russian-Egyptian dialogue in the spirit of the traditionally friendly relations between Moscow and Cairo," the ministry said.
