MOSCOW, September 3 /TASS/. Kiev should carry out a real rather than imaginary constitutional reform in Ukraine, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova told a briefing on Thursday.
"The only thing wanted by Moscow is a peaceful settlement in south-eastern Ukraine," the Russian diplomat said.
"Moscow also wants Kiev to strictly observe its commitments, including a pledge to carry out a real rather than imaginary constitutional reform. The form should not replace the content," Zakharova said adding that Russia was ready to give maximum support to that process.
"The points of the Minsk agreements are strictly defined, and they are not subject to free interpretation and distortion," the diplomat said. "Amendments to the Ukrainian Constitution on Donbass status should be coordinated with these territories [self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk republics] and should include concrete elements of decentralization," Zakharova stressed.
Russia hopes that Normandy Four foreign ministers will hold meeting soon
According to the spokesperson, Moscow has submitted proposals for the meeting of the foreign ministers in the Normandy format (Russia, Ukraine, Germany and France) and hopes that it will be held in the nearest future.
"In accordance with the agreement between the president of Russia, Germany and France, preparations are underway for a meeting of the foreign ministers of the Normandy Four," Zakharova said adding that "the Russian side has submitted its proposals on this matter."
"We hope that the meeting will take place in the nearest future," she added.
