BEIJING, September 3. /TASS/. China and Russia should continue to work together to counter the attempts to write the history of World War II, Chinese President Xi Jinping said during a meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

He expressed the hope that Russia and China would cooperate closer in future. "Good bilateral relations are a guarantee of close cooperation between our two countries on the international scene," Xi Jinping said.

According to him, new shifts have been registered in all spheres of the bilateral cooperation in 2015. "About 30 documents will be signed a little later in your presence, and this is clear evidence of the success of your visit," the Chinese leader said.

He assured the Russian president that China was adamant about "the development of the comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia."

Lessons of WWII should be remembered to minimize global conflicts

Russian President Vladimir Putin said еhe lessons of World War II should be remembered to minimize the military conflicts in the world.

"You have just said that we are united by a strategic relationship and, as we say, a comprehensive partnership. But what is also important is the way we perceive historical problems," Putin said during a meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

He noted that the peoples of Russia and China should not forget "the cruel actions of invaders on the temporarily occupied territories and what innumerable victims they caused." "But we must remember this to make sure that nothing like this happens again in the future. I listened carefully to your speech at the parade, I believe that was the main message of your speech addressed to the people of China and the peoples of the entire world, namely: everything must be done to prevent large-scale military conflicts in the future and to minimize military conflicts in general," Putin said.

The Chinese president noted that "years passed by, and some young people knew less about the history of World War II, others were beginning to forget about it, and still others even tried to distort, rewrite this history [of World War II]."
