MINSK, September 1. /TASS/. Candidate for Belarus President Viktor Tereshchenko will not continue his election campaign as he got 6,699 signatures when at least 100,000 needed, Belarusian Central Election Commission reported on Tuesday.
According to the commission data, current Belarus’ President Alexander Lukashenko got 1,753,380 signatures, followed by Patriotic Party head Nikolay Ulakhovich with 149,819 signatures. Liberal Democratic Party leader Sergei Haidukevich got 139,877 signatures, activist of ‘Tell the Truth’ party Tatiana Korotkevich gained 105,278 signatures.
Belarusian Central Election Commission’s candidate registration is planned for September 10. Presidential elections will take place on October 11.
