MOSCOW, September 1. /TASS/. The Kremlin will not comment on the media reports that the self-proclaimed Luhansk and Donetsk people’s republics seek a referendum on joining Russia, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov has told reporters.

"I cannot answer exactly, I do not know about the sources [of this information]," he said. "Some true information should appear here," the Kremlin spokesman added.

Media reports said earlier the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk republics were preparing a referendum on accession to Russia. However, the DPR has said there should be no speculations on this issue.

"We have never denied that we are heading towards integration with Russia and Eurasian integration associations, however, it is early to speak about any timeframe or parameters of holding such an event," DPR’s parliament speaker Andrei Purgin said.
