About 500 people picket Red Cross office in Luhansk

MOSCOW, August 28. /TASS/. Some 500 residents of the eastern Ukrainian city of Luhansk have held a picket near the office of the International Committee of the Red Cross [ICRC] demanding that the organization stop being inert and concealing crimes of the Kiev authorities, the LuhanskInformCenter agency reported Friday.

"First, the Red Cross is not interested in the fates of those captured militiamen that Ukraine exchanges. Second, they don’t help people injured during hostilities. Third, they don’t provide to the public any reports, information and it’s totally unclear what they are doing," the agency quoted picketers as saying.

Earlier, residents of the city of Donetsk repeatedly picketed the headquarters of the Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe [OSCE], also demanding objective coverage of the situation in the region.

After the rallies, Deputy Chief Monitor of the SMM to Ukraine Alexander Hug held a number of meetings with city residents and the Donetsk authorities.
