Source: US allegations about Iranian general’s visit to Russia based on anonymous sources

A number of media said earlier Gen Suleimani, the commander of an elitist regiment of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution whom the UN prohibits to leave the Iranian territory, visited Moscow

MOSCOW, August 18. /TASS/. The United States received information about alleged visit of Iranian Major General Qasem Soleimani to Russia from the media, a diplomatic source told TASS on Tuesday.

"American colleagues revealed what they meant under ‘statements by Iranian officials that prove Qasem Soleimani visited Russia’," the source said. "It turns out it is an article of a Western correspondent. An article quotes an Iranian source that wished to remain anonymous," the source added.

A number of media said earlier Gen Suleimani, the commander of an elitist regiment of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution whom the UN prohibits to leave the Iranian territory, visited Moscow and held talks with a number of top-rank Russian officials, including President Putin and Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu.

The media also alleged that Gen Suleimani had come to Moscow by a scheduled flight.
