MOSCOW, August 17. /TASS/. Iran’s Foreign Minister Javad Zariv hailed on Monday the role of his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov at talks of Iran and P5+1 international mediators (five permanent members of UN Security Council and Germany).

"Lavrov played a very important and positive role in talks on Iran’s nuclear program," he said.

Javad Zarif said the agreement reached at the talks, in particular paved the way "for the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries".

"Russia and Iran face a lot of common challenges and threats," the Iranian diplomat also noted.

On July 14, Iran and P5+1 group (US, UK, Russia, China, France and Germany) reached a final agreement on Tehran’s nuclear program which envisages guaranteeing the exclusively peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear dossier in exchange for a gradual removal of sanctions.
