RABAT, August 7. /TASS/. A Russian national is among people taken hostage by gunmen in a hotel in Mali’s Sevare, a spokesman for the Russian embassy in Bamako told TASS on Friday.
"One Russian citizen is among the hostages," the spokesman said. "It is an employee of the air company UTair. The Russian embassy is closely watching the situation."
The embassy eartlier dismissed reports of Russian pilots having been kidnapped by militants during an attack against a hotel.
"These reports have nothing to do with the reality," the embassy said. "We have no idea where such information might have come from."
