Syrian opposition leader to head coalition’s delegation during visit to Moscow — source

The delegation arrives in Moscow at the beginning of next week, and the meetings in the Russian Foreign Ministry may take place on August 12 and 13

MOSCOW, August 7. /TASS/. Head of the National Coalition of Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces Khaled al-Khoja intends to visit Russia as part of the movement’s delegation, which will arrive in Moscow next week, a source in the Arab diplomatic circles has told TASS.

"Khaled al-Khoja has accepted the invitation of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to come to Russia," the source said. "The delegation arrives in Moscow at the beginning of next week, and the meetings in the Russian Foreign Ministry may take place on August 12 and 13."

Khaled al-Khoja became the head of the National Coalition of Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces on January 5, 2015. On August 3, he was re-elected as its leader.

On August 3, Lavrov met the coalition’s former head Ahmed Moaz al-Khatib in Qatar, and on August 5 Russian presidential envoy for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov had a meeting with another former leader of this organization, Ahmad al-Jarba.
