Venezuela to build its own tank biathlon course

Venezuelan teams participate in the first ever International Army Games that opened in Russia on August 1

ALABINO TEST SITE, August 4. /TASS/. Venezuela’s military is to build a replica of the tank biathlon course that has existed near Moscow for several years now, the chief of the Venezuelan Armed Forces’ combat training department, General Jose Ines Gonzalez Perez told the media.

"We have an idea of building a competition course like the one we’ve seen here in Alabino. And not just for the tank biathlon, but for all other events we are going to take part in," he said.

Last year, General Perez recalled, Venezuela participated in the tank biathlon only. In the current army games his country’s teams are taking part in contests for mechanized infantry, artillery and air defense units.

Venezuelan observers are attending all other competitions.

General Perez described as very important not only the contests as such, but fraternal relations with Russia and daily exchange of experience.

The first ever International Army Games opened in Russia on August 1. They will last till August 15, with 57 teams from 17 countries taking part. A total of 14 contests are on the schedule.
