Afghan president calls on SCO to elaborate common anti-terrorist strategy

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai said that in the past three days his country had staged "efficient operations against Islamic State"

UFA, July 10. /TASS/. Afghanistan calls on member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to elaborate a common anti-terrorism and anti-drug trafficking strategy, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai said on Friday at an extended meeting of the CSO countries.

"We must understand where the roots of the problem are. The activities of terrorists who come to our country is aimed not against our government. They use our territory to destabilize the situation in the region. It is our common foe," he said.

He said that in the past three days his country had staged "efficient operations against Islamic State." He said two leaders of that group had been killed.

"The Shanghai Cooperation Organization must conduct a common anti-terrorist strategy… Another problem that is to be solved is drug trafficking, since those who take part in drug trafficking pose a problem no less grave than those who produce them. I are interested in elaborating a common agenda concerning this problem," the Afghan leader said.
