Putin expresses condolences to Indonesian president over military plane crash

MOSCOW, June 30. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed condolences to Indonesian President Joko Widodo in connection with numerous casualties as a result of a military-transport plane crash in the area of the Medan city, Putin’s press service reported on Tuesday. The Russian president conveyed words of sympathy to the relatives and friends of those killed in the accident.

A Hercules C-130 military transport plane of the Indonesian Air Force fell on Tuesday on residential suburbs of Indonesia’s third largest city of Medan several minutes after take-off. At least 113 people who were on board have been killed in the crash. Earlier local media reports suggested that the crash caused casualties among the Medan city residents. According to reports from the accident site, at least one child has been killed in the crash. Rescuers have recovered 49 bodies from under the debris.
