ATHENS, June 27. /TASS/. Greece on July 5 will hold a referendum on the proposals received from the troika of lenders, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said on Saturday.
The people are to express their attitude to the debt settlement plan the creditors proposed in exchange for a reform program.
"We are obliged to respond to the ultimatum on the basis of a sovereign expression of the people’s will," Tsipras said.
He also declared the decision to request postponing for several days the deadline for repaying the 1.6-billion-euro loan to the IMF. The current deadline expires on June 30.
