Russian, Turkish foreign ministers discuss efforts towards strategy against Islamic State

MOSCOW, June 16. /TASS/. Russian and Turkish Foreign Ministers, Sergeiy Lavrov and Mevlut Cavusoglu, discussed the necessity of adopting a comprehensive strategy against the Islamic State and other terrorist structures, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday after a telephone conversation between the two ministers initiated by the Turkish side.

"The two ministers discussed the situation in the Middle East and North Africa, including the problem of refugees fleeing Syria, and the necessity to elaborate a comprehensive strategy against the Islamic State and other terrorist structures," the ministry said. "The sides stressed the importance of more vigorous efforts to promote political settlement of the Syrian crisis on the basis of the Geneva communique of June 30, 2012.".
