Self-proclaimed Donetsk republic territory shelled 46 times over 24 hours

MOSCOW, June 5. /TASS/. A spokesman for the defense ministry of Ukraine's self-proclaimed Donetsk republic on Friday said the territory of the republic had been shelled 46 times over the past 24 hours.

"A total of 46 episodes of artillery shelling have been registered. The enemy used Grad multiple rocket launchers 3 times and carried out artillery shellings 21 times. They also used mortars, tanks, anti-aircraft installations, grenade launchers and small arms," the Donetsk news agency quotes Eduard Basurin as saying.

The spokesman noted that 16 populated localities in the self-proclaimed republic had been affected by the attacks, including Shirokino, Spartak, Kalinovka and Dzerzhinsk. He added that Kirov, Kuibyshev and Kiev districts of Donetsk and the local airport area had come under fire.

According to preliminary information, a one-year-old baby was killed in the village of Telmanovo. The information about casualties is being verified.
