KIEV, June 4. /TASS/. The only purpose of the Ukrainian president’s address to the parliament was to maintain his falling approval rating, member of the Opposition Bloc parliamentary faction Nestor Shufrich said, commenting on Petro Poroshenko’s speech to the Verkhovna Rada on Thursday.

"The president’s speech today can be described in a nutshell as a PR move and a very sophisticated one. I heard nothing but PR," Shufrich said. He noted that "the only purpose of the president’s address to the parliament was maintaining his declining approval rating."

According to Shufrich, Poroshenko’s speech didn’t contain any concrete proposals on restoring peace in Donbas. "I didn’t hear any suggestions on a peaceful settlement in Donbas. But we must find a path to understanding and forgiveness. Instead of this I heard that we were the fastest the most efficient, that we were ahead of the curve. "That was nothing more than a PR move," Shufrich added.
