More than 20 houses damaged in shelling of Donetsk, energy supplies affected — mayor

MOSCOW, June 4. /TASS/. More than 20 buldings have been damaged in Donetsk, shelled by Ukrainian troops, and three settlements have been left without electricity, the Donetsk Mayor’s Office told the Donetsk News Agency on Thursday.

Its sources said the settlement of Biryuza and two coalmines outside Donetsk had been left without electricity. A neighborhood in the troubled city was left without water supply.

The self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) has fixed 58 ceasefire violations by Ukrainian troops over the past 24 hours, sources from the republic’s defense ministry told the Donetsk News Agency earlier on Thursday.

They said in one of the incidents missiles were fired, artillery fire was fixed eight times and tank guns fired on eight occasions. Mortar fire was opened 36 times, they said.

According to the defence ministry, coming under massed fire were the city of Donetsk (including the airport and three coalmines), Gorlovka and Dokuchayevsk. The settlements of Kurganka, Veseloye, Shirokino, Lozovoye, Spartak, Novaya Maryevka, Zheleznaya Balka, Yelenovka, Signalnoye and Sakhanka were also shelled by Ukrainian troops.

Information about casualties among the civilian population is specified.
