KIEV, June 1. /TASS/. Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko on Monday mean with the newly appointed governor of the Odessa region, Mikhail Saakashvili, to discuss plans of reforms in that region, the press service of the Ukrainian head of state said.
"Pyotr Poroshenko commended the first initiatives advanced by the head of the Odessa region state administration, such as appointing district administration heads on a competitive basis. The president expressed confidence that the government would back this idea," the press service said.
Saakashvili, in turn, said he had already spoken with Odessa region residents. In his words, they "hailed and supported the president-initiated anti-corruption efforts and measures to stop the arbitrariness of oligarchs.".
