The sides focused on the situation in Ukraine and stressed that there are no alternatives to compliance with the February 12 package of measures for the implementation of the Minsk agreements, and also drew attention to the attempts of distorting them, Lavrov said.
"We are convinced that it is most important to focus on the key moment of the Minsk agreements, namely the need to establish a direct dialogue of Kiev with Donetsk and Luhansk," Lavrov said. "Without this it is impossible to solve any problem," he said.
Lavrov has also stressed the importance of taking immediate steps on improving life of citizens on the territories of the self-proclaimed republics in Ukraine’s south-east, including lifting the economic blockade and resuming social payments.
"We pin certain hopes on the upcoming meetings of the working subgroups in Minsk tomorrow [on Tuesday]," Lavrov said. The talks are due to consider the coordinated steps on the further de-escalation of situation in the military and political aspect and on preventing the cases of the ceasefire regime violation, he said.
