MOSCOW, May 28. /TASS/. Anti-extremist efforts should not be reduced to military operation but imply political and ideological actions as well, Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates Abdallah bin Zayid Al Nuhayyan said on Thursday after talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"We paid much attention to extremist threats," he said. "Despite the fact that extremism is an ideological problem we are now witnessing its affecting the fates of countries and nations."

Al Nuhayyan stressed the importance of anti-extremist efforts, which "should not be reduced to military operations." "It is necessary to fight against it in the spheres of ideology and politics to reduce to zero the current challenges in societies and economies of the countries suffering from extremism," he said.

"We think that one of the essential conditions of anti-extremist struggle should be Israel’s ceasing its occupation of the Palestinian territories and the establishment of the Palestinian state within the 1967 borders," he added.
