VIENNA, May 28. /TASS/. The Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) to Ukraine of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) said in its daily update published on Thursday that the settlement of Gorlovka had been shelled on May 26 from 122 mm artillery from north-north-west. The SMM also confirmed the death of three persons in the shelling.

"The SMM saw nine crater impacts (all within a radius of 200 metres) at three locations in residential areas and conducted crater analysis at one location. At this location, the SMM saw the body of a deceased woman close to two crater impacts. The SMM estimated that the craters were caused by incoming artillery from the north-north-west. In both craters the SMM found shrapnel consistent with 122mm artillery," the report says. The OSCE monitors said they had seen another building ruined in the shelling and traces of blood there. The SMM cited the emergencies services of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic and local residents as saying that "a 38 year old man and his 11 year old daughter were killed instantly in this strike and his wife and two young children had been hospitalized with injuries."

"Later, the SMM saw three bodies at the mortuary (one a middle aged man, one woman and a child). The SMM assessed that all three were victims of the shelling," the monitors said.

The settlement of Gorlovka is located at the line of engagement between the conflicting parties in Donbas. Territories north of the settlement are controlled by the Ukrainian army.
