Report on Russia's alleged disruption of Normandy Four meeting untrue — Foreign Ministry

There was no agreement on a meeting in Paris this week, there was only an initiative to consider such an opportunity, the ministrty said

MOSCOW, May 27. /TASS/. Ukrainian media reports on the alleged disruption by Russia of a Normandy Four meeting at the level of deputy foreign ministers is untrue, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.

"This information does not correspond to reality, as there was no agreement on a meeting in Paris this week, there was only an initiative to consider such an opportunity," the ministry said. "No specific proposals on the meeting’s agenda have been received."

"Moreover, Russian and Ukrainian foreign ministers Sergey Lavrov and Pavlo Klimkin noted in a recent phone conversation mutual understanding that the holding of a meeting at the level of deputy foreign ministers in the Normandy format now seems premature," it said.

"[The sides] should wait for results of the activity of thematic working subgroups established in the framework of implementation of the Minsk agreements, which should gather in Minsk again on June 2," the statement said.

The Russian Foreign Ministry urged representatives of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry to "abstain from awkward and unprofessional information infusions, which do not contribute in any way to the positive dynamics of the process of settling the crisis situation in Ukraine."
