Arab countries drafting new UN resolution on Palestine — ambassador in Moscow

Mustafa said that after a failure with the first resolution in December 2014, the decision was made to form a commission of six Arab countries tasked with working on a new draft

MOSCOW, May 20. /TASS/. Arab countries keep preparing an updated draft resolution on creating a Palestinian state and studying terms when the document could be submitted to the United Nations Security Council, Palestinian Ambassador in the Russian Federation Fayed Mustafa said Wednesday.

Mustafa said that after a failure with the first resolution in December 2014, the decision was made to form a commission of six Arab countries tasked with working on a new draft.

"It was then that we learned France wants to submit its draft. We informed the French that we would like them to coordinate their activities with members of that Arab commission," the diplomat continued.

"There are a number of points that we insist on, in particular, creation of a Palestinian state in the borders of 1967. If the French draft does not comprise that provision, we will not back it," he said.

Mustafa said consultations with the French side continue.

"But we realized that the French are hesitating and want to delay presentation of the draft under US pressure," he said.
