MOSCOW, May 20 /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called for an early ceasefire in conflict-stricken Yemen at a meeting with Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Al Busaidi held on Wednesday.
"The sides had a detailed exchange of views on the situation in the Persian Gulf in the light of the ongoing military and political crisis in Yemen," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"Lavrov stressed the urgent need to reach an early ceasefire and end the bloodshed in Yemen as well as to launch a UN-brokered process of political settlement via an inclusive national dialogue," the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed.
The sides discussed urgent issues of Russian-Omani relations and promotion of a political dialogue between the two countries.
